Ways to Maintain Social Distancing in Your Pharmacy
Posted on Apr 01, 2020
Because pharmacies are an essential business, they are still in operation as individuals across the country are practicing social distancing to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Customers may still need to enter your pharmacy to refill prescriptions, but there are steps you can take to help your staff and your customers maintain safe social distancing. Here are a few tips from our digital pharmacy management system company:
Encourage customers to pay with cards: Cash is notorious for being dirty and spreading germs, and is increasingly impractical right now. Especially if you have card readers where the customers swipe their own cards, encouraging this method of payment will drastically cut down the amount of person-to-person contact you have in your establishment.
Mark out six foot intervals in your queue: Mark out spots on the floor to indicate six foot spacing between customers while they wait in line. This helps to guide them, and will also remind them that they should be practicing social distancing – this is still a new concept for everyone, and it’s easy for us to forget and unconsciously get in line the way that we always have in the past.
Limit the number of customers in your pharmacy at any given time: Depending on the size of your pharmacy, you may want to institute a limit on the number of people who are in your establishment at once. Have a staff member near the door (at a safe distance from others) to help control the flow of people into the pharmacy.
With these steps and the benefits provided by our digital pharmacy management system, you can help reduce the risk of COVID-19 being spread within your establishment by minimizing person-to-person contact. Visit BestRx.com for more information about our products.
